Privacy Policy
Underline does not collect any data. Nothing you write in the app leaves your device unless you export it yourself.
What the app stores, and where
Underline stores what you write in it: your answers to its questions (what you want, the parts you underline, actions, predictions and outcomes), exercise answers, practice reps, notes, and a few settings such as the hour notifications fire. All of it lives in a database inside the app’s private storage on your phone.
The app has no server. There is nowhere for it to send this.
If your phone backs itself up (iCloud on iOS, Google backup on Android), the app’s storage may be included in that backup. That backup belongs to you and is governed by Apple’s or Google’s terms, not ours. We never see it.
What we collect
Nothing. Specifically:
- No account or sign-in. We do not ask for your name, email or anything else.
- No analytics, no crash reporting, no usage tracking.
- No advertising and no advertising identifiers.
- No third-party SDKs that collect data.
- No location, contacts, photos, microphone or camera access.
Notifications
Underline can remind you to check a prediction on the date you chose, tell you when a practice rep has ended, and follow up on an outcome. These are local notifications: the app schedules them on your phone and your phone delivers them. No push service is involved and no notification token is sent anywhere. You can turn them off in your phone’s settings at any time.
Export and import
From Settings you can export everything as a single JSON file. The export is started by you and goes through your phone’s share sheet, so where the file ends up (AirDrop, Files, a message, a cloud drive) is your choice, and once it leaves the app it is governed by whatever you sent it to. Import reads a file you choose and replaces the data on the device with its contents. Nothing is uploaded in either direction.
Deleting your data
Delete the app. That removes its database from your phone. There is nothing on our side to delete, because we never had it.
Third parties
We do not share data with anyone, because we do not have any. The app is built with Expo and React Native, which are open-source frameworks; the version we ship contains no analytics, advertising or tracking components.
Children
Underline is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, children included.
Changes
If this policy changes we will post the new version here and update the effective date. If a future version of the app ever collects or transmits data (for example, an optional sync), this policy will say so before that version ships and the app will ask you first.
